NDR Committee Votes NO !

?????????????????????????????

one sad, sad chapter in the chapter of
democratic process and courteous behavior
Mr. President

Mr. Lange should not be singled out. How many among us has worked as hard as he has for the association? While many among us spend evenings watching TV, he has worked on saving Sunken Gardens, landscaping public areas, developing historic application, 4th street beautification and the list goes on.

Although many of us may disagree with him on this one, he is entitled to his views. As an architect he could be instrumental in attaching appropriate appearance and size conditions if it is approved.

Perhaps, he could tell us, here, what appearance conditions he would require.

Good point

You make a good point about Mr. Lange's devotion to the neighborhood. He has devoted countless hours of hard work to better the neighborhood. Probably more than any other single person.

However, on this is issue he has reversed his previous and ardent committment to preventing neighborhood
encroachment by commercial development.
This is a bitter disappointment to many people who have entrusted him to protect the area. We have trusted him because he has always been so vigilant and has stated so many times that he would never allow it.

Yes, we all realize now that we all should have been paying more attention ourselves. But, at every meeting he gets up to reassure the membership that he is on top of things. He has asked for our trust and has trived on our trust. The question now is, has he breached our trust?

As acting President he has a duty to show some impartiality on this issue, especially because it is so divisive.
More simply put, he has the right to his own views certainly, but when acting in the capacity of an officer or especially as president, his personal views should
be secondary to those of the membership.

He just appears to be incapable of compromise. And why the reversal on encroachment?

If his feelings are as strong as they appear in favor of the developer, then is he capable of leading a membership which does not follow?
leadership

No is the answer to your last question.

A leader must be able to allow all voices to be heard and must be secure enough to allow open communication and interaction.

I also do not understand the reversal and have heard no plausible explanation for it to date.
