gotcha

Yep- everyone is a volunteer. Last I heard no one was getting paid for their neighborhood work.

If you are not being kept well informed but you are "editor" of the newspaper how do you edit? If I were you I would insist on being kept well informed so that you can do your volunteer work well, as I am sure you would like to.

a little self focused?

we all have lives and many of us volunteer outside the neighborhood at the schools, hospitals, hospice, guardian ad litum, nursing homes, kids sports, etc. we also have kids, aging parents, etc. that's why we sometimes get involved only as needed here in the neighborhood.

each of us has to make those life choices and the neighborhood benefits from yours but please dont' be so critical of others until you have walked in their shoes

a sincere thanks for your work on the newsletter which is a vital part of neighborhood communication
Great point- keep on !

North Shore is going to be hit with more and more redevelopemnt projects and proposals because St. pette is built out and downtown is becoming attractive-

it will be vitally important for these people to stay involved in NDR in the future

and for more to join !

Editing Newsletter

I greatly appreciate the efforts of all of those who participate in getting the newsletter to us, and I enjoy reading it cover to cover every month. However, I'd like to suggest that there be a regular monthly column devoted to summarizing board meetings--who attended, what was the agenda, reporting any votes and any issues and information discussed that would be of interest to members. We could ask a member of the association to volunteer to attend board meetings and write the column. Perhaps we can also have some articles or a column educating us about various City departments, committees and staff who are involved in decision-making that affects our neighborhood. I'd be willing to volunteer to write a monthly column on board meetings--are others willing to volunteer? I notice the same board members' names repeatedly as writers of articles--can articles only be authored by board members? The more widespread the participation by general membership in NSNA, the stronger the NSNA, the more effective our board, and the more open and informative the process. Other constructive suggestions? Susan
