landscaping xeriscape

Posted in: Historic Old Northeast
is there a good example of a xeriscaped yard in neighboorhood. Would lack of lawn be compatible with neighborhood design elements?

Xeriscaped yards

I have two sources that you might want to consider. One is the Butler/Serra yard at 1000 3rd Street, N. I personally have watched the owners create a spectacular yard that is extremely watch conscious. The second alternative is to contact the Pinellas County Extension service. They offer a free program to become a Florida Certified Yard (the Butler/Serra home is one) and will work with you to examine your growing conditions, soil and make recommendations for plantings that are appropriate for your yard and that will flourish with minimal water and attention.I completed the program in a previous home and found it not only a pleasure to go through but also very educational. Good luck!
