Its nice to know some things.
Like a few soft words. A kindness. A reassuring look. A hand upon your shoulder.
Well tonight, I experienced them all!
I was at a small soiree of sorts and a woman I did not know leaned over and spoke in my ear. Steve, you don't know me but I know you. I have been following what has been going on lately and reading the web site every night. ''Keep on going'', she said. ''There are more people than you know out there who support what you are trying to do. So don't quit.''
I looked down, smiled, and said, ''Oh, don't worry, I won't.'' I said it almost non-chalantly. Then it dawned on me how special what she had said was. But, by the time I had turned to thank her, she was gone.
Well I'm here now telling her and you all how much I appreciate all of your kind words, your smiles and your reassuring looks of support.
It goes to the woman who called me yesterday and offered her and her husbands help if and when I need it.
It goes to the folks who have sent me cards and letters of support.
And, most of all it goes to all of my friends and supporters who have already committed themselves to the cause by signing the petitions, or by being on the committee, or by donating money or by typing and delivering. I thank you all.
And, soon, North Shore will be thanking you all as well. So, good night North Shore. Sleep tight. I'll see you in the morning.
