Vision 2020 and Airport

Just thought that you'd like to know that one team at the Vision 2020 charette yesterday included in their ''Bold Steps'' the demolition of the airport and preservation of that land for public waterfront parkland. This does not mean that the idea will be included in the City's Comprehensive Plan, but there clearly are some people who would like to see the airport go.

This is great news that somebody is bold enough to challenge that land use. Can you just imagine how wonderful St. Petersburg would be if that land was used primarily for Parkland?!!!!!!!!!
Let's hope that a strong grassroots group can push this forward and overcome the rich and powerful who have allowed that airport to exist for all these years. Land is too valuable in Pinellas County now and one airport, CLW/St Pete is enough already!

Comp Plan

I am a veteran pilot and small plane enthusiast. However there is no NEED to use extraordinarily valuable waterfront land for an airport when another like facility is so close. It is time to begin the process of converting Albert Whitted Airport land back to a truly public use and enhancing the growth of the city.
