Additional highlights from the Aug. 14 NSNA Board meeting are as follows.
Steve Lange announced that he submitted the application for Historic District designation to the Mayor, and that the application will be reviewed by the City and then by the State, a process that will likely take at least 12 months. Kate Hoffman was appointed to chair a new Historic Preservation Committee to provide education and advocacy to the community regarding preservation issues.
The Board asked the local NSNA Website manager to investigate whether users can be required to register with a personal pin number. The manager will report back to the Board at the Sept. meeting. This followed two slanderous postings on the website that have been reported to police and traced. The Board heard a letter from one of the victims and will provide a written response.
Lane Lastinger presented the revised CVS proposal to the Board and the stipulations that NSNA NDR and CVS agreed to include in the proposal. (Those of you who attended last night's Special Membership Meeting are aware that the majority in attendance voted to support the revised proposal).
Two problematic properties were discussed, the Hazelton Townhomes project at 3rd St. and 8th Ave. N. which is up for renewal of permits today, and the condemned property at 12th Ave. and Oak St. N.E.. It is unclear whether the second property is on the City demolition list, which was described as lengthy waiting list that may result in a 2-3 year wait for demolition.
A reminder regarding PODS--they must be removed from the street after 2 days and a homeowner's property after 7 days to avoid being cited.
