Steve, the neighborhood, the world, our lives, and our conversations do not revolve around you. There was no conspiracy against you or Joyce. Nor did the ''anti-CVSers'' want to oppose the project to keep out ''those North Shore don't like'' as you indicated in your postcard. It wasn't personal or about not liking people, nor was it about thwarting you. Homeowners had legitimate questions and concerns. The process was a positive one. No one came to my front porch and said, ''Let's get rid of Steve and Joyce.'' The letter that was found in the City file on the CVS project that revealed your presence at a meeting in Jan. along with Nadine Smith was found in the process of research on the CVS project by people concerned about the proposal. How would anyone know there was something there about you?or anyone else in North Shore? A series of cirumstances raised questions about a conflict of interest. The Board questioned you, accepted your responses, and made a public statement that the questions had been answered to the Board's satisfaction. Your presentation of g.o. as ''screaming'' at the Board meeting in June is false--you were the only one present who was pointing your finger, raising your voice, and behaving with hostility.
The Board wasn't ''stacked''--you've been part of the process for some time of replacing Board members between elections when unexpected vacancies occur. You'd be outraged if someone suggested that your invitation of Nadine Smith to the June Board meeting, Lane's nomination of her to the Board and your vote for her, in spite of the fact that she did not qualify, was a conspiracy to get a pro-CVS person on the Board. As you told me, it's extremely difficult to attract people to serving on the Board. Those who come forward with interest tend to be accepted.
The conversations at Harveys on July 3 among a group of neighbors, friends, some people who had never conversed before were about everything BUT you. The Board meeting had been tense and unpleasant--people were relieved it was over. Restoring old homes. Travels in Europe. Our jobs. For some of us, ''getting to know you'' kinds of conversation. Those people arrived at Harveys before you did and had no knowledge that you would show up there. People were present at that table who disagreed with each other, voted differently, but could still go enjoy a friendly meal with each other. Your beliefs and presentation on this site of persecution and a conspiracy are false. Take a look at your contributions to current perceptions of you--personal attacks on people, name-calling, ridiculing people, dropping responsibilities you've had in anger and then attempting to depict others as not taking responsibility or as being incompetent. This feedback is being given with the kindest of intentions--it's pretty sad to see someone negating their history of positive acts with such destructive behavior. Be brave--poll the 31 people who voted to request your removal from office and ask them for their reasons. Reflect on your own behavior. And I'll be glad to talk to you personally if this posting offends you or you'd like to talk about it.
