Here is more information about the proposed Fine Arts Museum expansion: In
1961 the City deeded to the Museum the south one-half of Straub park from 2nd
Avenue North to the alley between 3rd and 4th Avenues North, between Beach
and Bay Shore Drives North. The proposed addition to the existing building (as shown in the Summer 2000 issue of Mosaic) more than doubles the size of that building with a three-story wing on the north side. Further design detail will tell us whether the addition could enhance the beautiful Palladian facade.
