I just posted an updated description of the May Meeting agenda to the Calendar of Events, and mailed the membership reminder postcards today which also describe the agenda.
The meeting agenda will include a consideration of a name change for the Association as indicated below.
------------
Article I. Name
The name of the organization is (change from ''The North Shore'' to ''The Old Northeast'') Neighborhood Association of St. Petersburg.
------------
- Approved change to Bylaws is required by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of eligible voters present at the meeting. Full text of the Bylaws can be viewed on this web site.
- Bylaw Voting privileges
Article III, Section 1(c) of the Bylaws states ''Active members are eligible to vote on all matters that come before the Association.'' Active members are currently paid members of the Association whose permanent residences are within the boundaries of the Association.
By following Robert's Rules of Order at the May Meeting, discussion is required before a vote will be taken. Please note that because this matter only pertains to the Association and not to the neighborhood at large, voting privileges are extended only to paid members, not all residents.
In anticipation that there will be mixed of opinions about this proposal, please don't shoot me; I'm serving as a messenger here. The rationale to change the name is based on whether ''old Northeast'' is more widely known and accepted than ''North Shore.'' Other reasons may apply.
If you have an opinion on this matter, please do voice it and your vote at the May meeting.
