The NSNA Board agreed not to vote on or take a position on this project, because it is outside of the boundaries of our neighborhood. There are people who live in our neighborhood who are concerned about what occurs outside the neighborhood boundaries and the impact on the neighborhood and some who adhere firmly to the idea that NS residents and NSNA members should only concern themselves with our neighborhood. Individuals are, of course, free to express and to act upon their concerns.

I think that the concern is with elected officers or board members, not residents. The board voted correctly.
How then does a board member go forth and not be sending a mixed message? Lange tried it last year- it does not work. There is an implicit obligation when someone holds a position of representation,

Boundries

You are slightly mixed up. In regard to CVS or any other issue for that matter, Mr. Lange never went outside the neighborhood boundries when representing the neighborhood. Lange, relative to CVS and as President of North Shore at the time, began by acting under the boards direction at the time he took over as President. The STOP CVS people generated a membership meeting and reversed the board's position. From that point forward Mr. Lange's statements were his own and he made that quite clear to everyone. What you said in your posting was an incorrect statement about Mr. Lange.

Don't really want to go there but I think the point was that when someone represents an organization, and is highly identified with that organization, the lines are blurred - no matter what disclaimers are given.
