City Hexblock POLICY CHANGE!

''The attached resolution was passed unanimously by the council this afternoon.''

A RESOLUTION APPROVING A CHANGE IN THE CITY'S POLICY CONCERNING HEXAGON BLOCK SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT; APPROVING AN APPROPRIATION TRANSFER FOR THE REPAIR AND OR REPLACEMENT OF HEXAGON BLOCK SIDEWALKS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

WHEREAS, the Public Safety, Public Service & Infrastructure Committee and the Policy and Planning Committee heard a presentation by the City Administration concerning hexagon block sidewalks on Thursday, November 18, 2003; and

WHEREAS, the Committees jointly recommended approval of changing the City policy concerning repair and/or replacement of hexagon block sidewalks at no cost to abutting property owners; and

WHEREAS, the Committees also jointly recommended approval of an appropriation transfer of $50,000 from the General Fund Contingency to accomplish the projected repair and replacement costs for the current fiscal year; and

WHEREAS, the Committees also jointly recommended that hexagon block sidewalks be preserved in the Roser Park, Old Southeast, Uptown, Kenwood and Old Northeast neighborhoods.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Petersburg, Florida that the joint recommendation of the Public Safety, Public Service & Infrastructure Committee and the Policy and Planning Committee concerning hexagon block sidewalks is hereby approved and hexagon block sidewalks should be repaired and/or replaced at no cost to the abutting property owner in the Roser Park, Old Southeast, Uptown, Kenwood and Old Northeast neighborhoods.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby approved the following appropriation transfer from the General Fund Contingency for the cost of implementing this hexagon block sidewalk policy in accordance with the joint recommendation of the Public Safety, Public Service & Infrastructure Committee and the Policy and Planning Committee:

From General Fund - Non-Departmental - Contingency: $50,000
To General CIP - Hexagon Block - Sidewalks: $50,000

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
