Grey van at 81st and Eliot

Posted in: Cobblestone Village
We have noticed that a grey van has been sitting at the corner of 81st and Eliot for several months. In late January I was going to call the police to have it removed, but then noticed that new plates had replaced the temporaries that expired in November. My hope was that new plates meant that the van was soon to move, as it is a visual obstruction for the intersection, and therefore illegally parked. As of 1 February this has not happened, so I am posting a message here to give fair warning that IF THE VAN IS NOTM MOVED BY 14 FEBRUARY (VALENTINE'S DAY TO MAKE IT EASY TO REMEMBER) WESTMINSTER POLICE WILL BE CALLED TO TOW IT.

This is legal per the following municipal codes:

Abandoned Vehicles: Vehicles left upon the roadway over 48 hours may be considered abandoned and impounded 48 hours after posting of a courtesy notice.

Junk Vehicles: Vehicles on private property or on the street that fail to meet the following criteria are considered ''junk'' vehicles and may be ticketed and/or towed unless stored in a garage: Vehicle is not capable of travel under its own power (including flat tires), does not bear current license plates, remains stationary or unused for more than 30 consecutive days on private property or 48 hours on the street. (8-3-1 (B))

7. It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle upon a street or highway in such a manner or under such conditions as to interfere with the free movement of vehicular traffic or proper street or highway maintenance. (10-1-12 (A))
