The Minutes for April were approved with one correction - the spelling of Hornbeck Park.
Old Business:
Road pavings - Sidewalks along Mt. Holly, after a delay, will be put in beginning this week. Hornbeck Park next to the police station is to be paved. Mitchell Hill Rd. from the center of Fairdale to the top of the hill and down Old Mitchell Hill Rd. is to be paved. Candlelight Lane is to be paved sometime in August. The New Cut Road project is to be completed in September. Infrastructure money is to be used to repair sidewalks at street intersections in Leemont during September.
Neighborhood Task Force - The first meeting is September 1 at 3:00 p.m. at South Park Country Club. The Task Force will meet with a consulting group hired by Planning and Desighn. Cost - $49,000, including Neighborhood Development Funds from Ron. Members - Carol Avis, Jim Caskey, David Carty, Jenny Sangster, Casey Jones, Linda Duncan, Clyde Elzy, Don Wittry, Ted Longacre, Bill Nichols, Reggie Paschal.
Related to the Task Force work is a $70,000 Business Development Authority project already approved to spruce up Fairdale village streets (add shrubbery, sidewalks, curbs, trees) to make the village more attractive to the businesses the Task Force will be trying to lure there.
Ron also introduced a map showing environmental constraints that all proposed development must use as a guide to what land is usable in District 13.
New Business:
Vandalism in Yorktown North - Linda reports that three individuals were brought to justice in their vandalizing property at one residence. Also, an off-duty police officer has been hired to discourage further egg-throwing incidents.
Inez reports clogged ditches in Minors Lane. Ron will pass this on to MSD.
David reports the presence of too many permanent "temporary" signs in front of businesses in Fairdale. This will be addressed soon by inspectors.
Reggie reports too many cars are parked outside Clifford's in Fairdale. Ron will check on this.
New meeting time - From now on, we will meet at 4:15 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month.
Fairdale Elementary Playground Project - Youth Initiative Funds ($15,000) will be given to help Fairdale Elementary construct a handicap-accessible playground that will also be open to community use. Total cost - $75,000. The school has already raised almost half of that. Construction will begin in phases.
Fence at Hornbeck Park ballpark - Ron gave ND funds to help construct a fence for the ballpark.
Pull-A-Part Salvage Company - There is to be a second public meeting between this company and residents of Yorktown North and others who do not want the salvage company to locate on the 25 acres one-half mile back from National Turnpike and across from Yorktown North. After November, inspectors will begin checking the other six salvage yards for violations.
Adjourned: 8:00 p.m.
Next meeting - September 28 - 4:15 p.m.
