John Laczkowski is legally blind. That did not stop John and his two daughters Sasha and Tamara from collecting around 2,200 food items last year. This year the goal is 4,600 items.
When John and his daughters collect the food, they do it with a yellow handcart and the help of John?’s guide dog. The Laczkowski?’s food baskets have helped in the past Reynolds and Erickson Elementary families. The idea started two years ago when Sasha wanted to do something for Reynolds Elementary.
Shortly after, a family friend, Liz Schultz was murdered by her husband. The Laczkowski?’s organized a benefit luncheon for Liz?’s children. They have helped the needy in Liz?’s honor for the past two years.
This year they hope to provide baskets for 11 schools and they have plans to start a Tucson Unified School District facility for needy families to get food and educational items. They have named the facility Liz?’s Pantry.
