But to do a spot-inspection yourself, look for areas that stay damp, especially if that damp area is in your wood chips - that's a dangerous combination. We switched all our chips out (near the house) to red rock instead. Also walk around your house paying close attention to the concrete between the ground and the siding. Look for dirt tunnels (similar to mud dawber nest) leading from ground to house. They typically come up from the ground in these, or in cracks in concrete.
