A MONTHLY NEIGHBORHOOD NEWSLETTER July 2001Happy 4th of July
Security at the Pool

BOARD OF DIRECTORS CORNER:
There was vandalism at the swimming pool again. This time the vandalism occurred Memorial Day Weekend. The pool was closed May 29 so Shasta Pools could repair the fiberglass and Mercury Pools and Plaster could repair the tile. The pool reopened on June 16 with a new addition, a security guard.

The guard is now signing in all guests at the pool. Besides assuring the residents that the pool is now more pleasing to be at with less rough play, foul language and inappropriate conduct, the security guard will contact the police to arrest any individual who has broken the law. The police have been notified of the addition of a security guard and have notified the Stonecreek Board of Directors that they will respond promptly to any telephone call that our security guard makes to the Gilbert Police Department.

The Security Company will be present at the swimming pool during the day, and conducting numerous inspections at night. The inspections at night will include locking up the pool with chains after 10:00 p.m. and reopening the pool at 6:00 a.m. It should be noted that the only time the swimming pool suffers vandalism is when the pool is open. This fact would lend to the thought that the vandals are Stonecreek residents and have keys to the swimming pool.

One note about the pool rules. Any child under 15 years of age will not be allowed at the swimming pool without an adult. The swimming pool is not a babysitter, and parents must be responsible for their children.

What is the cost to the Association for the Security Company? The cost is $3,700 per month. This is an interim measure taken by the Board that will be evaluated as to its effectiveness in the coming months. This is money that could have been spent on improvements around Stonecreek HOA, instead of securing our swimming pool against our own residents.
We look forward to a fun and pleasant Fourth of July at the Stonecreek HOA pool, and hope that you do too. It is not the wish of the Board of Directors or the Management Company to close the pool so that our responsible homeowners cannot enjoy the swimming pool. We hope that the June closure is the last one.

We have received many positive comments from Stonecreek Homeowners regarding the hiring of a security guard.

A quorum of Board members was not reached at the June Board meeting, so the appointment of new Board of Director members has been deferred until the July meeting.

Have a safe Fourth of July and leave the fireworks to the professionals.

We ask that you please respect your neighbors and do not throw items over block walls. We have heard of several cases where a ball is thrown over a block wall and hurt someone who was simply being in their own back yard.

GUARD YOUR PRIVATE INFORMATION EVEN WHEN NOT ON THE INTERNET
You know that you cannot trust everyone on the Internet. The same holds true in the paper world. Do you wonder how so many companies get your name on their mailing lists? Or why, although you manage to get your name off some lists, that they pop up on new lists? One reason is that if you give your name and any other private information to one commercial company, (like sending in a warranty card) it is then freely available for any other commercial company.

Companies on the Internet and the rest of the world have privacy policies which disclose what they can do with your information. It may be wise to read them before giving out your private information.
Your best defense is to read the companies privacy policy before sending in a warranty card or grocery store questionnaire etc., unless you want marketers trying to sell you their related products.

You can get their privacy policy from their Web site or by calling the company. (Have you been getting a lot of privacy policies in the mail lately? They might be interesting reading.)

DID YOU KNOW....
....that if you have problems crying when you are cutting onions, you could try putting them in the refrigerator first. Cold onions will cause fewer tears. If you really like onions, chop more cold onions than you need and freeze what is not used - frozen onions will keep for months.

....that you should keep your bike helmet on if you fall off your bike especially if you have trouble moving your arms, or suspect a head or neck injury? Your movements could cause further damage by removing your helmet. Better yet, always use the buddy system and ride with someone would can summons help for you. If nothing else, this could be a good use for a cell phone.

...that dry hair absorbs more chlorine from the pool than does wet hair? You can either wet your hair before entering the pool or use a conditioner to save your hair.

.... that sweating is a sign that your body is trying to cool down? When you begin to sweat, it is a sign to drink plenty of liquids.

SELLING YOUR HOME?
Please help yourself by telling your title company that a sale is pending and that they must notify Borg Property Services of the pending sale. Borg Property Services has seven (7) days to inspect your house before the sale can be completed. (House bill 2299) If the inspection must be done in less than seven (7) days because they did not notify Borg Property Services, then Borg Property Services will charge the homeowner an extra fee. Title companies have been known to ask for a rush inspection because they did not notify Borg Property Services, and the homeowner is charged the extra fee.

There is always a fee associated with this inspection. The homeowner pays this fee at closing. Contact Borg Property Services for its rates.
