Stonecreek News
Neighborhood of The Year!!

Stonecreek Homeowner?’s Association, Gilbert, AZ 85234 ☺ Monthly Newsletter ☺ October 2004

DIRECTOR?’S CORNER
The water feature should be up and running by the printing of this newsletter. The delay was due to a motor not being available on short notice.

The Board of Directors is looking into re-tiling the pool or resurfacing the pool to resolve ongoing problems with the fiberglass, new dual drain for county requirements and loose water line tile problems. The ultimate solution may be resurfacing the pool, as may be directed by our pool consultants.

The Pool Will Close for the Season on November 1, 2004.

Have you had the opportunity to meet your neighbor? October is ?“Meet your neighbor month?” in Stonecreek HOA. The Board of Directors would like all Stonecreek residents to meet one another. What better way than to host street-by-street social events that incorporate a block watch program? October has been designated by the Board of Directors for this activity. For more information, please contact Borg Property Services.

Finally, we would like to wish everyone a very safe and happy Halloween.

DONATE YOUR USED BICYCLES
It is that time of the year again when ?“elf?” Tony gets in high gear. He repairs used bicycles and gives them to needy children. (Gilbert CAP, St. Anne?’s Friends of the Needy, schools in South Phoenix etc.) Stonecreek has donated many bikes to Tony in the past and we?’re asking that you clean your garage and help unfortunate kids at Christmas.

This is an easy way to get rid of unused bikes, make a donation, and save yourself the time and trouble of disposing of them all at the same time.

Whom do I contact?
Call Tony at 480-892-7505. The bikes do not have to be in working order. Tony will come to your house, pick them up free of charge and give you a Gilbert Community Action Program (CAP) receipt that you can use as a tax deduction. Tony restores the bikes and gives them to CAP to give to needy children at Christmas time.

Call Tony, make his day and make a
needy child happier this Christmas.

DID YOU KNOW?...
DID YOU KNOW that if you press CTRL++ (numeric keypad plus key twice) that it will resize your Explore columns so you can see all the information (assuming your screen is wide enough). This saves you the time of adjusting the columns individually. (Some programs will do the same thing by only one plus key.)

DID YOU KNOW that if you drag your Explorer window to the size you want it, and then close it that it will return to that same size the next time that it is opened? (Maximizing it and then closing it will not do the same thing.)

WHAT?’S THAT STICKING UP FROM THE TRAFFIC CONTROL ARM?
Most people are aware that the fire department can control the traffic control lights so that they (when they have their lights flashing) can control the lights so that they (hopefully) will always have a green light when they get to an intersection. To facilitate that, there is a short pole attached to every intersection traffic control arm.

But what about all the other items attached to various traffic control arms?

If it looks like a camera attached to a pole, then it is a monitor used by the Town of Gilbert to detect the flow of traffic at specific intersections. (IE: Val Vista/Mesquite = S. of Home Depot, Juniper/Gilbert, Guadalupe/Park Village = by Patterson elementary school).

NOTE: These are not radar detectors. They are pointed at the ?‘zone?’ where traffic normally stops for a red light and can only monitor the presence of traffic at that spot.

This allows them to control which direction of traffic has the green light and for how long. (They used to dig up the pavement to bury detectors but now use cameras for this purpose.)

If it looks like a TV antenna attached to a pole, then it is a radio transmitter which sends the signal data collected from the intersection and sends it to the Town of Gilbert via an underground fiber optic cable (IE. Lindsay/Elliot, Juniper/Val Vista, Elliot/Gilbert).

REMINDERS
☞ Send your payment to Borg Property Services?’ new address!!

☞ Have you removed, or at least encrypted, your personal information from your computer? (Social security number, date of birth, tax returns, financial account numbers, user id/passwords?) Your computer may not always be in your possession. (At least use strong passwords which use lower and uppercase letters, numbers and symbols.) ?“IaO12yo?” could be a strong but easy to remember password as it is the first letters of a phrase. (I Am Only 12 Years Old.)

☞ Are these same private records laying around the house waiting for some prying eyes to use them to your disadvantage?

?“RAYS OF HOPE?”
?“A few thoughts to ponder, designed to uplift, inspire and install greater peace in you this week . . .

1. No matter who sets out to accomplish a goal, others benefit by his or her effort.
2. The human spirit is not measured by the size of the act, but by the size of the heart?’. (Drape on building near Ground Zero, NYC.)
3. Be a ray of light and hope in the world.?”
