Stonecreek Neighborhood of The Year!!
Stonecreek Homeowner's Association, Gilbert, AZ 85234 Monthly Newsletter November 2003
DIRECTOR'S CORNER
As a reminder to the homeowners of Stonecreek HOA, the Association dues are $42.00. As of 1/1/2004, a late fee of $5.00 will be assessed against all account with a balance as of the 15th of the month. In order for the Association to pay all of its bills on time, homeowners must pay their Association dues on time.
The swimming pool was closed for the winter on October 23, 2003 due to vandalism. Unfortunately, individuals defecated in the swimming pool, and destroyed the irrigation system in the pool area. We find that it is a shame that the swimming season had to end on a sour note for what was a fairly vandalism free summer. If you know the name of any individual(s) who have committed vandalism in Stonecreek HOA, please contact Borg Property Services or the Gilbert Police Department.
A reminder to the parents of Stonecreek HOA - know where your children are and what they are doing.
Please remember that the Board of Directors revised the Summary of Violations/Fines Schedule in June 2002. The time to cure a boat, RV, utility trailer or trailer violation is only three days. The fines will commence on the 4th day with a minimum fine of $50.00. The CC&R's are very clear in Article VIII, Section 1, (t) about not allowing any of the above-mentioned vehicles to be in view of the street, common area and/or neighbor's property. To avoid a fine, please be sure that your vehicle cannot be viewed from the street, neighbor's property and/or common areas.
Finally, the Board would like to wish the residents of Stonecreek HOA a very safe and happy Thanksgiving.
CONTRACTS AWARDED
The Board has approved the installation of "2003 Neighborhood of the Year" signs at the corners of Juniper and Val Vista and at Juniper and Granite.

We would like to recognize the folks who spend their early morning hours picking up trash in the gutters and common areas.

"GILBERT PUBLIC FORUM TO FOCUS ON HOMELAND SECURITY
"Since September 11, 2001, there have been numerous concentrated efforts on the part of government agencies at all levels to coordinate comprehensive strategies to secure our country from ten terrorist attacks. In an attempt to better inform the public about local, regional and state homeland security efforts, the Congress of Neighborhoods will hold a free interactive program on Homeland Security and Defense on Saturday, November 8, 2003, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Southeast Regional Library, 775 N. Greenfield Road, Gilbert.
"Attendees will have a special opportunity to hear directly from some of the many agencies involved in Homeland Security and Defense efforts. A panel of Arizona experts representing the Arizona Department of Health-Services, Office of Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response, the Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management, the City of Glendale's Metropolitan Medical Response System, and the Gilbert Fire and Police Departments will discuss their roles in defense efforts and the opportunities available to citizens to assist in homeland security & defense.
"Additionally, a session about Gilbert's growth will focus on issues associated with changes the community has experienced in recent years. Jim Romero of the Arizona Department of Transportation and Gilbert Deputy Town Manger Tami Ryall will provide information about area freeway development. Businesses and organizations sponsoring the event will be on hand to provide information and distribute specialty items.
"The Congress of Neighborhoods is sponsored by the Arizona Republic, Vestar Development, the San Tan Ranch and Sonoran Vista neighborhoods, Banner Health, Sir Speedy and APS. Those wishing to register may do so by logging onto the Town of Gilbert website at www.ci.gilbert.az.us. or by calling Gilbert Neighborhood Services at 480-503-6767." Source: Town of Gilbert

DAY LIGHT SAVING TIME - "SPRING FORWARD - FALL BACK"
The Day Light Saving Time that we know today started with the Uniform Time Act of 1966.
As a result of several changes to the law, Daylight Saving Time begins on the first Sunday in April ("Spring Ahead") and ends on the last Sunday of October ("Fall back").
The law "makes the sun set one hour later" and therefore reduces the number of hours needed to light our homes and run appliances (TV, VCR etc.) before going to bed, which saves electrical energy.
A study done by the Department of Transportation for 1974 and 1975 in March and April showed a savings of the equivalent in energy of 10,000 barrels of oil each day". For a nation, this is a huge savings in energy.
REMINDER
The CC&R's require ACC approval before starting projects that will change the appearance of your home or yard. You can get ACC forms from Borg Property Services.
DONATE YOUR USED BICYCLES FOR CHRISTMAS
Now is the time to think about people less fortunate than ourselves. Here is a way that you can get rid of used bikes, make a donation, and save yourself the time and trouble of disposing of them all at the same time.
Call Tony Bernot at 480-892-7505 if you have any bicycles that you want to get rid of. They do not have to be in working order. Tony will come to your house, pick them up free of charge and give you a Gilbert Community Action Program (CAP) receipt that you can use as a tax deduction. Tony restores the bikes and gives them to CAP to give to needy children at Christmas time. Stonecreek has donated many bicycles over the last years. Maybe we can keep the tradition up. Call Tony, make his day and make a needy child happier this Christmas.
