Stonecreek New Neighborhood of The Year!!
Stonecreek Homeowner?’s Association, Gilbert, AZ 85234 ☺ Monthly Newsletter ☺ July 2004

DIRECTOR?’S CORNER
Beware!
Borg Property Services has received two telephone calls about pool keys being stolen at the swimming pool! This is the first time in 12 years that Borg Property Services has received reports of items being stolen at the pool. Keep an eye on any item that you bring to the pool. You may want to attach the pool key to your bathing suit with a safety pin or tie it around your wrist, so that no one can steal it.

Rocks May Close Pool
Rocks in the pool continue to be a problem. Again, if you notice someone vandalizing any common area in Stonecreek HOA, call the police. Stonecreek HOA has given a signed Power of Attorney to the Gilbert police department. It would be a shame to have the pool closed due to vandalism when the weather is so hot.

11:00 P.M. Closing
We have decided to keep the pool open until 11:00 P.M. every night. We hope you enjoy the extra time.

New Positions
Sean Madagan?’s position expired May 2004, but we accepted his offer to remain on the board for another three years. (The lack of a quorum at the Annual meeting prevented us from having an election.)

Each year, we elect new positions for all the Board members. Our new titles are listed on page two.

Trespassers? - Call Police!
Anyone in the pool area that is not a resident, or accompanied by a resident, is trespassing! Call the police if you are witnessing this. The swimming pool at Stonecreek HOA is for the sole use of Stonecreek residents and their guests. Please remember that if the swimming pool is closed a message will be left on Borg Property Services?’ voice message. After hours calls regarding the closure of the swimming pool will not be taken by Borg Property Services. This is not considered an urgent emergency.

Dues Increased June 1
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE HOA DUES INCREASED TO $45.00 on June 1, 2004. If the dues are not paid in full by the 15th of the month, a late fee of $5.00 will be assessed against the account. If you have your Association dues paid by the bank every month be sure to make this change! The coupons in your coupon book mailed to all homeowners in April 2003 noted this change.

Scorpions
It has come to the Board?’s attention that there has been an increase in scorpions in our community. Our pest control company (T2 Pest Services, Inc.) recommends all homeowners to implement a pest control program. T2 offers a discount to Stonecreek residents. Call T2 (480-215-5232) or see the enclosed circular for information.

Thank You
The Board would like to thank Borg Property Services for their recent tree donation to the HOA.

Stay Safe - Be Happy
We hope that you and your family have a very happy and safe 4th of July holiday. Please remember that the streets around the pool are very busy during this time of year with children crossing. Please be aware and drive carefully.

WHAT IS CENS?
?“A new computerized telephone dialing system designed to contact large numbers of households in a matter of minutes may help save lives by warning Valley residents of a local danger or disaster. Relying on the 9 - 1 - 1 database, the system allows emergency personnel to draw a line around a specific area on a map, then launch the message to only the telephone numbers in that area. The Community Emergency Notification system (CENS) is operated by the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) in partnerships with local public safety departments and became fully operational Jan 1.

?“Residents can receive the recorded message in both English and Spanish, or other languages as appropriate. Recipients have the option of replaying the message as many times as necessary. The system can make up to 1,000 calls per minute. Potential uses for CENS could include warnings of major floods or fires, hazardous materials or hostage situations, police incidents, endangered children or any imminent threats to life or property.

?“Any public safety agency in Maricopa County can activate the system, which will be used only for emergency incidents that pose a danger to life or property. The system is designed to call back three times if the line is busy or if there is no answer. If the system reaches voice mail or an answering machine, it leaves the recorded message. CENS will not work on cellular phones, although technology is being created to allow the system to warn people using text message technology on cell phones.?“

Examples of Gilbert using this are:
* a child or incapacitated person has wondered off and cannot be found,
* a hazardous material event in which
a particular area should be evacuated.

It is a preprogrammed message so at first it could sound like a telemarketing call, but it will identify itself.

It uses the 9-1-1 database, so unlisted and unpublished numbers will be called - but not cell phones.
