As a single woman living in SV, I was on a first name basis with our former police officers and it made me feel safe knowing that they were around. I would hate to have to wait for a response from the Louisville Police Department if I really needed help. The SV officers have checked on my house whenever I went out of town and have called me when they saw anything suspicious going on near my house. I appreciate all the work they have done and hope that you do not consider disbanding our police department.
Same here, however, I find the new police to better than what I have experienced in the past. Whether going out of town, during the power outage, policing parking and speeding, etc. they really seem to be on top of it.
The taxes we pay should well be enough to continue this needed service, although I think we need to evaluate the cost-sharing arrangements that are in place, making sure they are equitable with SV not paying more than their fair share.
