Please tag your pets!!

Are you a loving pet parent? Of course you are!

Then why does your pet not have a tag on their collar? You'd be surprised how many people don't do the simple thing of placing a tag on their pet.

All animals are required by OKC ordinance to wear a rabies tag! This is very important in the event your pet is lost. The person who finds your pet can trace you through the vet's office so your much loved pet can return safely home to you.

And......just to make your pet a little more safe, why not add a name tag on your pet's collar! You can buy the ID tags at pet supply stores city-wide.

Please don't let your pet be like the one running in the commercial made by the OKC Public Relations Department.... lost forever!

Dogs Can't Flush! What does this mean?

We all know what the City's slogan saying "Because Dogs Can't Flush" means! Don't we?

You like to walk your dog which gives both you and your dog exercise time together. Now....let's suppose that your dog has to take a potty break. What do you do? Stop and let your pet meander around on someone's curb, lawn, school grounds, park grounds looking for the "perfect place" and then when the deed is done, hurry on your merry way?

NO!!! At least we all hope this senario isn't what you do! It's against the law! There's a hefty fine if you and your pet are reported. We don't want that!! But, neither do we homeowners want what your pet has left behind in our grass!

Dog waste is a messy problem. It takes up to a year to decompose. It attracts flies and germs run rampant in it. Rain or sprinkler systems can wash it into our water supplies! UGH!!

The answer is simple! Take a small disposable plastic bag with you when you walk your dog. It's not fun to pick up the poop.....but after all, it is your pet and just good manners besides!

Drop your plastic bag in a waste barrel and you've done a good thing for your neighborhood!
