Two public workshops will be offered this month to determine the amount of support for implementing Phase 11 of the BroadwayWeidler Corridor Plan. The 1996 Plan was created to support the longterm development of the Corridor as a "Main Street" a vital pedestrian oriented mixed use district. Phase 1, between NE 9th and NE 15th Avenues, has been completed. Phase 11 would improve the blocks between NE 16th and NE 24th Avenues. Private property owners along both streets would be asked to form local improvement districts to provide a portion of the necessary funds. The City would provide the remainder. Improvements include new traffic signals at 19th and 22nd Avenues to improve pedestrian crossing and slow traffic, widened sidewalks on Broadway, safety improvements at the intersections of Broadway and 24th and at Weidler and 24th, new street trees and tree grates, new "cobra head" street lighting on Weidler and twin ornamental lighting on Broadway. Workshops will be structured so that residents may stop in anytime during the evening. The workshops will occur on the following dates at Grace Memorial Church, NE 17th and Weidler:
