This has been a week of wild weather. 81 degrees one day, 59 the next. Rain has been plentiful. Some spring flowers and trees are already in bloom. Our community has been fortunate and the weather hasn't caused a great deal of damage.
Should the worst happen and the spring storms cause damage to your home. Here are some things to keep in mind.
1. Before the damage occurs check your insurance, know what it covers and what your deductables are.
2. After a storm ensure you and your family are in a safe place then check on any damage.
3.If your home is damaged take what ever action is needed to stop further damage, cover leaking roofs, or broken windows.
4. Take pictures of the damage. It is best if you have some before and after pictures to show the Adjuster.
5. Contact your insurance agent as soon as you can.
6. While checking for damage, watch for downed power lines, gas leaks, and flooding water.
7. Watch pools of water, in warm weather ants and other insects may be caught up in the pools or can be driven to find dry areas. Standing water may also hide other dangers, hidden object that can trip or cut you, or deeper holes to stepin. Careful driving thru water pools and water flowing over road ways they can hide danger as well.
These are just a few of the things to keep in mind.
Be safe.
