In this issue of the Community Column, we would like to do three things:
1. Introduce the Parking Policy Re-vamping Project
2. Give you an up to date report from the Architectural Control Committee
3. Share with you some of the feedback presented to the board and management at the July meeting

IS PARKING AN ISSUE OF CONCERN FOR YOU?
If you answered Yes, then please, read on.
WHAT
In an effort to improve and better maintain our current parking situation, we are currently forming a project team to take on the task of re-vamping our existing parking policies.
HOW
A project team will be formed to do the following tasks:
1. Create and distribute a survey to access your concerns, issues and suggestions regarding the parking situation we now have in place
2. Review the current Parking Policies documentation and determine what needs to stay and what needs to change
3. Rewrite the Parking Policies including registration of vehicles process, towing procedures, guest and temporary parking, etc.
4. Register all Summit Park vehicles
WHEN
We currently anticipate the project to take approximately (3) months with a tentative roll out date of January 1, 2002.
HOW CAN I HELP?
We are seeking the help of as many Summit Park residents as possible to get this project rolling and in place within the tight timeframe.

Also, look for information to be posted in the mail kiosk regarding meetings for this project. We are looking at the week of August 20th as a possible timeframe for our kick-off meeting. YOUR ENERGY, IDEAS, POSITIVITY AND DESIRES FOR A BETTER SUMMIT PARK ARE NEEDED TO MAKE THIS PROJECT A SUCCESS!!!!

THE ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL COMMITTEE REPORT
The Architectural Control Committee wishes to thank Rich and Carol Prouty and Jean Douglas for their dedicated contributions to the committee. All three have moved away. We will miss some really good neighbors and community servants. The committee vacancies have been filled by Diane Mead, Andrew Noworytta, and Scott Stone. A big thanks to them also.
By the time you read this, the committee will have already commenced a major walkthrough of the community. The committee informally canvasses the complex continually, but we are due for a comprehensive "checkup." While we conduct walkthroughs and try to spot important building maintenance items, we will pass them on to the property manager.
Our committee has three main functions. First we review unit owners' requests for exterior alterations for approval or denial. According to our Declaration, any such alteration requires prior committee approval. Many items can be easily approved. Examples of approvable improvements are storm/security doors and windows, patio gates, satellite dishes, air conditioning units and several others. If you're at all unsure if you need permission/approval, please call me. Also, don't assume that if you see another unit with an alteration that it is approved. It might not be and the owners may be in violation.
Second, we scope out the community to discover unapproved unit additions or alterations, non-approved "for sale/rent" signs (only signs inside unit windows are allowed) and directional arrows. Daily "Open House" signage is permitted.
Third, the committee also will have notices sent for messy patios, and unconventional use of patios for storage. Naturally, only typical patio articles should be stored, such as patio furniture, BBQ's, maintained plants and flowers and other freestanding decorative items. Boxes, trash bags, and
other eyesores are not allowable. Violators will receive a written notice to correct. If the violation continues the unit owner can be subject to a fine until there is a confirmed correction.
SIDE NOTE:
The committee is also very concerned with garage doors consistently being left open. This is not only unsightly but a danger to the resident and a temptation for theft and burglary! The committee will send out violation notices to repeat offenders. Let's put our best foot forward. Think how you
want Summit Park to appear to a visitor.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS/INFORMATION
Saturday Morning Walks- Weather permitting, Lisa Meriweather will be walking the complex every Saturday morning (with the exception of 8/18 and 9/8), looking for neighbors to meet and notes to take on current issues. If you see me and have a concern that you would like to have addressed, please stop me. I will be walking around 9am. I?’m looking forward to meeting and hearing from you soon !!!
