Early documents of the original Swan Lake Neighborhood Association are now available for your viewing pleasure.
In the "Community Pages" section of this website, you will find four "pdf" files, which give some insight into the beginnings of our neighborhood association.
The pdf files are:
> Swan Lake Articles of Incorporation
> Swan Lake Certificate of Incorporation
> Swan Lake Organization Chart
> Swan Lake Bylaws (1983)
Here is a brief review of each file.
> Swan Lake Articles of Incorporation -
It was on March 9, 1983, that the Secretary of the State of Oklahoma received this document.
The names of the "directors constituting the first board of directors" were Lee Price IV, Mary Ann Arnett, Sara Kennedy, Mac Arnett and Chris Lincoln.
Article Four states that the purpose for this corporation is to "...strive to maintain, enhance and improve the quality of the neighborhood within the Swan Lake area...", which included the boundary north to the Broken Arrow Expressway.
> Swan Lake Certificate of Incorporation -
The Honorable Jeannette Edmondson, Secretary of State, signs this certificate on March 9, 1983.
> Swan Lake Organization Chart -
The original design of the SLNA included not only a president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer, but also eight additional positions.
These include historic preservation, zoning, events, membership, editor and businesses.
And two other positions, one being ambassadors and the other listed as "lake keeper", which apparently maintained information about the lake and organized youth activities.
> Swan Lake Bylaws (1983) -
Ratified in a June 29, 1983 general membership meeting, there were some noticeable differences from the current Bylaws, one being that only homeowners and renters were allowed membership.
