28 people were in attendance.

Caroline opens the meeting at 7:09p.m.

Update on fountain restoration:
Been selling swan ornaments, going well?…it?’s for both money but publicity.
Hopefully everyone has received a brochure to donate
to fountain.
We?’ll take pledge ?– goal is participation?…when we go to a foundation, they want to know if neighborhood is supportive?…so if we can show a large percentage is supportive.

Right now, we?’ve only got 2% participation.
$31,500 in our fountain fund right now.
Have several meetings with various foundations?…and have received some funding from one foundation already.

Mention that fountain fundraising has received publicity from Tulsa World, KRMG and K-Jazz radio.
Planning on a contest (for PR) in schools to name the unnamed swan and a ?“Lights ON at the Lake?” for the holidays.

We need volunteer to put up and take down lights.
Saturday, Nov. 3 and Sunday Nov 4th to put up lights.
We would like to have volunteers available to serve hot chocolate when we turn on the lights.

Stacy Bayles requests posting names on our website ?– back of brochure.

Video from OETA was shown (plan on creating a YouTube account for video).

100th anniversary of this park is 2010 ?– that is our goal to have it done by then.
Tie in with the Centennial event going on now.

Chip Atkins: National Trust is coming to Tulsa next year.
They plan on touring the lake.
We might need volunteers to give them escorted tours.

(7:22p.m.)
Mark Mobbs: addressed the COA handout, as it regards to construction in the neighborhood.
Says he is available to help residents navigate the codes.

Chip: asks about COA and which way it leans to
(property or owner).
Scott Johnson, who lives at N.W. corner of 17th place
on Peoria, says it swings to the property?…relating his
experience when he bought the house and tore down the
fence.

Stacey: lets contact Tulsa Realtors and see if we can get a workshop together to help explain what potential homeowners need to know.

Eric F. Scholl: present results of on-line survey.

Caroline: read e-mail requests:
Swan Lake painting?…Jim East said to take painting over to
Ziegler?’s to get some information

5k run to raise money for fountain?…Jake Crissup (the guy who
wrote the e-mail) mentioned that he wrote that
request. Jim brought up the street blocking
problem?…maybe do a walk that would not block traffic.
Stacey suggested Jake explore options.

Conversation breaks off into ideas from running to cost of individual fountain repair to street around Swan Drive, to Tulsa streets.
Caroline brings meeting back into focus by saying that we need to get first $600,000 to start fountain repair.

Someone (Tom -?)) asked if we?’d consider changing the name
of the lake to ?“St. John Lake?” or ?“BOK Lake?” or some other big donor name.
Pam Beaver said the name of the lake was once ?“Orcutt
Lake?”?…and she received a call from the daughter of the
original Orcutt, who told Pam that the family might
bring legal action if someone changes the name of the
lake to something else?…in other words, there are
naming rights.
It is also on the National Register of Historic Places as ?“Swan Lake?”.
Pam added ?“we don?’t want to lose our identity?”.

Raffle off two swan ornaments.

(8:05p.m.)
Representative Lucky Lamons: "just came from a Forest Orchard neighborhood meeting where they?’re dealing with two homicides (near to Swan Lake, at 12th & Rockford).".
"The Lutherian church is helping people in that neighborhood."
"I live in Riverview neighborhood
(http://www.riverviewtulsa.org/), and I?’m with that association.
What we do is help the Greek Orthodox Church with Greekfest."
Lucky made the point that needs vary from neighborhood to neighborhood.
?“Elected officials like myself listen to organized
people like you?”.

Pam: Rockford block is having a block-long yard
sale. Planning on splitting the money to fountain and animal
aid. Date is Saturday, October 20th?…said that we can join in their sale.

Chip discusses the proposed apartment construction on the 1400 block of 17th Place.

Meeting adjourned approximately at 8:15p.m.
