Respect-O-Meter: Respected Neighbor
Neighborhood Watch

Thank you for making us aware with your post. We should all be a little more vigilant.  The idea of a neighborhood watch program has been brought up several times.  The HOA has looked into the neighborhood watch program and what it takes to start one.  Cost is not an issue, however, the neighborhood participation is.  As you all know, there are only 3 active members that volunteer for the board.  We all have personal lives and families that deserve our time, and all of us devote many hours per week to HOA business.  We have asked several times for help and one person has stepped up to assist.  I want to let you it does not take an HOA to start a neighborhood watch.  If you have the initiative to stir up the neighbors and get them excited about the crime happening in and around our neighborhood, the funds are there to support your efforts.  We, however, do not have additional time to set up a program.  If you would like to know more about the information we collected please contact our secretary, Priscilla, at psdillon6825@sbcglobal.net, or email us at coppergrovehoa@hotmail.com.

Respect-O-Meter: Respected Neighbor

Im not trying to "stir up the neighbors" about the crime in our area, just warn them for their safety.  Try not to be so defensive about the HOA, as I said this is not meant to be a slam.  I know all about the past efforts and attempts to start a crime watch and the whole time all I have been saying is, lets get a few signs up. Cant hurt anything.  If one person has stepped up, maybe that person will collect the money and order the signs.  If there are funds, Im sure someone will happily hang them for a small fee.

I did not read the stir up comment negatively.  I believe that he was asking if there was anyone with the initiative to energize the community behind this effort.  A person is needed to take charge in this situation.  Part of this energy will be directed at getting someone to order the signs, maybe someone else to hang them.  These tasks should not be done for a small fee, but because the person believes in this program.

I will volunteer to hang the signs.  I welcome anyone that wants to help me.

Herb, I will be at the 11-11 meeting.  If you can make it, that would be great.  If not, I will privately send you my information threw the HOA, and together we will hang up some tastefull, few signs that will hopefully scare off future theives.  Thank you so much for your reply and volunteering to do this.  I unfortuanatly dont have the time to start up a entire  neighborhood crime watch program, but do believe a few signs will help.  Im going to bring with me to the meeting the diffrent styles so the few that attend can agree and take a vote.  As you all know, Copper Grove is alot smaller then most of the neighborhoods around us, which means we need to stick together to keep this a safe community.  For the most part, everyone takes care of their property and Im proud to say  I live here, lets keep up the good work and our home values...
