I know it's frustrating when the police don't show up with a fingerprint team, or maybe even show up at all. But unless these incidents get reported, it's like they never happened.
Overall statistics are looked at, and if our neighborhood stats show a particularly high rate of car break-ins, we stand a much better chance of getting increased patrolling from our precinct.
The officers I've spoken with who patrol our area do care about car break-ins. But their priority has to be for more serious crimes. I've been told there are about two fingerprint vehicles for all of Davidson County.
