Tussing Area Coalition (TAC)

do you know about us? you should!

Jul 26, 1999

Tussing Area Coalition
referred to as "TAC" is an organization of neighbors (just like you!) who have organized ourselves as a united voice to make an impact in issues concerning our community.

We represent the communities of park place, park place west north, park place west south, turnberry farms, turnberry green, turnberry place and farmbrook.

Current issues of concern and what we are trying to accomplish are as follows:

1. Traffic Light at Inter-section of Hines & tussing roads.
2. Widening of Hines road.
3. Overcrowded Tussing Elemen-tary school. There is talk of bussing our children!
4. Install 20 mph School Zone Lines on Tussing Road, either side of the elementary school.
5. Stop or Slow any further development in our area until some of these issues are resolved.
6. Multi-Family Developments
We feel there are too Many parcels being re-zoned to allow building of multi- family units, currently: apartments At corner of Hines & Tussing, as well as the low-income apartments that will begin construction any moment directly across from the elementary school.
7. Lack of Green Space for
our Communities.
8. Safety issues, for our children due to lack of sidewalks between neighborhoods, and relating to traffic issues; as well as for the children of the upcoming development across from the elementary school. They will have to be bussed across the street.
9. Increased property taxes.

What Have We Done so far??®

What Have We Done so far?
We have had several meetings with City Council members to voice our concerns.

We have spent many, many hours researching and obtaining needed information from various city and state departments and agencies.

We are on record as the Official organization for our area. This means it is required that we be notified of any land up for re-zoning in the areas surrounding our developments.

We have organized meetings to discuss and decide further courses of action.

We are very close to getting a traffic signal installed at the corner of Hines & Tussing Roads.

We are encouraging each subdivision to begin their individual civic associations to handle matters specific to their subdivisions, i.e., enforcement of subdivision regulations, starting a block watch program, community garage sales, etc.,

We are planning a voter registration drive, as well as a petition drive?…?…..
