One of the Tamaron residents who was concerned about the survival of the Koi in our lower pond placed a telephone call to the Humane Society. They have a fish person who reported that our water level is not enough and we are not treating our fish humanely!
HOWEVER, at least two pond/koi experts have stated that the water level is more than sufficient to support our koi and that we should not raise the water level until we are ready to replace the pump.
The pump, where of where is that pump? Costs estimates to re-build the old pump are running approximately $1,900.00 with only a 90-day warranty. A new pump will costs approximately $4,000. We are in the process of obtaining additional bids on the pump replacement.
Bids are also being obtained to drain and clean both the upper and lower ponds as well as the waterfall/stream area. When this happens, the larger koi will be removed and sold. The smaller koi will be kept alive and replaced in the new and improved pond.
