Nebraska Ave Name Change
I agree that the name ''Nebraska'' Ave. brings to mind prostitution,
shabby buildings, crumbling infrastructure, pot holes, failing
businesses, juke joints, and other unflattering images. There is, of
course, some justification for that image. Nebraska Ave. can change .
Maybe the change can start in our small stretch of the Avenue.
Other streets have turned from shabby to chic (excuse the phrase). It
just takes ''seed'' businesses and a clean , safe, and attractive
appearance. Many of us can remember Kennedy Blvd. before it was cleaned
up. A name change won't effect change, but a name change along with
improvements is a good idea. I personally am not in favor of naming
the Ave. after any person, live or dead. I envision a name which would
evoke something tropical or Floridian. I also would like it to be called
a boulevard. Maybe...Live Oak Blvd or Hibiscus Blvd or Randi Blvd.
