The federal government is mandating cities have a storm water master plan. Currently Norman has no such plan but is starting the process of developing one.
Under the plan, detention ponds which we have 4 in our addition will be considered under this plan. Currently the maintenance and upkeep of the structure of these ponds is the responsibility of our homeowners association.
The city currently is leaning toward taking back some of the upkeep of these ponds, creeks and green belts throughout Norman since there is no way we know how to keep these up to engineering specs and someday when they need dredged or reshaped you are talking thousand of dollars. If the city takes this over there will have to be a way to fund this and it will have to be voted on by the citizens.
It would be in our interest in Tecumseh Ridge to pay a fair share of some type fee portioned out to all city-wide property owners vs being assessed the cost by our HOA due to the number of ponds we have.
Stay informed on this issue, the city of Norman web site has a link titled " Storm Water Master Plan ". The task force is just starting so there isn't alot of information at this time and it will be several years before its implemented.
