I have heard about some other cities putting limits on where sex offenders can live in proximity to schools and parks, but there was a story on WFAA the other night that mentioned something else.
There seems to be a lot of cities doing this because if you don't, your city becomes the one where the sex offenders will choose to live.
I, personally, wouldn't want to force anyone from their home as long as they are registered, but I don't want to become the haven of choice for every offender within 200 miles.
Below is the story from WFAA.

Margaret has put forth an important consideration. A similar ordinace is working it's way through city council committees .Both Councilwoman Chick and Councilman Monroe have expressed an interest . I suspect a similar proposal will come to Garland Council and public hearings will be set in the fall.I encourage all that have concerns to be involved. I have talked with our GPD today to find out the status. They had this drafted some time ago and are awaiting the council and city attorney to review a similar restriction . This will need the support of the public.
