Both the red cross and the fire department has asked that we all check our fire alarms and make sure they are in working order. This is the highest fire season . Christmas trees should be kept watered . The biggest cause of fires is space heaters and candles. Please watch that any heater is used per the directions , away from flamable material , not left on and check the same for candles . All should be off if you leave the house.
Stoves , especially the ceramic, flat kind will keep heating when the pot is off if the burner has not been turned off. Make sure the stove area is also free of anything flamable including plastic storage containers and other items . Please double check everything during this busy time and enjoy and safe holiday season.
If you know of a senior that needs help or a fire alarm, the Garland Fire Club or Red Cross may be able to help.
Citizens Firefighters Club
