Additionally, in regards to the traffic concerns and traffic safety,
the Department of Public Works has, over the past six year, if not
longer, tried numerous methods and techniques to help increase safety
in the Prue Corridor, including the placing of loop detectors in the
exit of the Lost Bluff subdivision, which trigger warning signs on both
approaches to Prue Road; the placement of LEDs in the pavement markers
along the curve to help keep driver's attention; and continues to look
at signal timing and placement, as well as potential upgrades from loop
detectors in the pavement to VIVID detection for vehicles to keep the
volume of traffic under control along Prue.

In a nutshell the $8 million estimated project would be a
removal/straightening of the curve, and potential widening of the
roadway. There is not a detailed engineering evaluation on this project
at this time. As with a number of projects, we first receive an initial
''estimate'' of costs, and then, if the project is selected for inclusion
in a call for projects or a bond proposal, a more detailed estimate is
done to provide a more stable cost for the project, and then final plans
are normally prepared after the approval is given by either the policy
or governing board, or by the voters in bond election.
We are committed to providing equal funding to all parts of our district
and please note the projects I mentioned in my previous email were in
place prior to Councilman Hall coming into office, and so we are seeing
their completion during his term but we did not originate either
project.
Let me reflect on your last question a little more and I'll try and see
what other information I can help provide you.

This information is part was exactly what I was seeking. I note funding
along Prue Road east of Babcock and little to east of Babcock. There is
a fair amount of traffic along the entire length of Prue Road, and
Bandera is becoming rather busy since I started driving it in 1998.
With the commercialization at the Bandera/1604 intersection, other
growth along Bandera/US 16 into Helotes the ''justification'' for more
attention to the east of Babcock on Prue may be more viable now.
How may I learn the specifications of improvements planned for Prue Road
east of Babcock to Bandera (for ''the necessary improvements ....$8
milliion range'') as well as gain an understanding of what possible
considerations there might be of partitioning the work (expense) of all
these improvements?
What other suggestions might you offer for all the residents of the
subdivisions along this stretch of the road, perhaps through official
actions of the HOAs, to be able to invite further interest, attention,
motivation, etc. concerning this matter?
