The Oaks at Millcreek

April, 2015 Newsletter

March 25, 2015

Our St. Patrick’s Day Social was a great success.  We would like to thank Bill and Louise Day and all their Leprechauns on Stone Creek Lane for all their hard work.  The food was excellent, Bingo was a lot of fun (thanks to Bob Gaubert for being the Bingo Caller) and it was so good to see everyone including our new neighbors.  Our next social will be in May.  More details will be coming soon.

Thanks to Donnie Mingis for refurbishing our second bench in the big island, and thanks to Peggy Leicht for donating the bench.  It looks great on the patio with the other bench Donnie refurbished.  Great work.

Thanks to Don Miller for taking care of our pine straw order.  Our community is really looking good.

Vendor List:  Please delete Ron Rutledge and Todd Peters from the electrical category and add Allgood Electrical and Plumbing-Brian Martin, 678-369-0980 or 770-599-5494 (Cell) under the electrical and plumbing categories.

REMINDER:  Call Julia Collins @678-635-7358 (no answer leave a message) to reserve the clubhouse.  Also, Julia would appreciate a call to let her know if you are using the clubhouse for a committee meeting, cards, etc.   The clubhouse lights have been left on A LOT lately as well as the door left unlocked.  So give Julia a call if you will be using the clubhouse.

Attached is information from Larry Roe about lawn care and the door code.

Larry Roe is our liaison with David (lawn care) and after meeting with David, Larry secured the following answers to some of the lawn care questions presented at the recent community meeting.

Also, it was suggested we have the door code to the clubhouse changed as it has been many years since that was done and the community felt there has been some unauthorized use.  Larry has changed the clubhouse combination code.  As of March 24th, the new entry code is 2015.

  1. Concerning the spraying of the yards, David has assured me that every yard has been treated both front and back. They applied a liquid spray which only requires an hour to dry. Thus after one hour you can let your pets into the yard.

  2. David will re-inspect the yards for weeds. If they need retreating he will do so. However, you need to understand that it takes approximately two weeks at a temperature at or above sixty degrees before the solution will activate.

  3. The more expensive weed control agent was applied last Fall, in October. This solution is good for six months. Based on the data, the weeds should be under control well before the warmer weather comes.

  4. David has agreed to ensure that the drain basin areas between the Faris and Langford and Johnson and Jeffries homes will be properly cleaned and cared for including pine straw where needed.

  5. Some people have wondered why David’s crew members aren’t friendly.  The reason for this, most of them don’t speak English plus David has informed his crew that if a homeowner comes out to talk with them and they are in the process of using any power equipment, then they are to stop what they are doing and leave the area. You are asking why.  The reason for this is insurance coverage and safety.

  6. David does have the door code for his crew to use the bathrooms on the days they are here. I have informed him of the usage guidelines and he has agreed to take full responsibility to ensure the clubhouse is locked, clean, no trash, and lights turned off before they leave. Only David will have the door code.

  7. David and crew will be here March 25th. Providing the yards aren’t too wet, he plans on mowing the yards.
