Leaving the subdivision every morning, I drive up a good part of the length of Slumber Pass out to Blanco. Near the southwest part of the corner of Sleepy Hollow and Slumber Pass there is a building site that has been under construction for about 6-8 weeks. They never had a dumpster. The ground was covered with piles of construction waste and trash. Everytime a strong wind blew lighter pieces of stuff went all over the adjoining lots. It looked just aweful. Everytime I went past I just looked at and shook my head.
About two weeks ago the building site received a dumpster. But as of early this week they hadn't bothered to use it.
Two days ago I went past there. I couldn't believe it - there was a queen sized mattress just dumped on top of the already large pile of waste right in plain view. Well that was the straw, I guess.
I called TDC (Blanco office directed me to the main office on 281) and spoke with a lady who got right on the problem. Someone from that office was sent out there two hours later to survey the problem.
The next day, the building site was almost 100% cleaned up. I want to thank the TCD office staffer who resolved this for taking such quick action.
I want to be proud of where I live. I don't want it to look like South Philadelphia which is what that building site looked like.
What surprises me is that I don't know how the people who live nearby could stand to see it looking like that practically right outside their front door.
Perhaps they thought the same thing I did - I am just wasting my time by complaining - but I was wrong. I now know I should have called sooner. One persons action, can make a difference.
