Dear Neighbors,

Just when one considers he experiences all adventures in life: a new sight.

At the intersection of Newport Avenue and Benefit Street on Saturday, Sept. 5 around 7 p.m.,  a young woman walks between stopped traffic, holding in one hand, a portable basinet with an infant.  In the other hand,  a two year old child paces with Mom.  What makes the situation worse: the woman is not walking near any crosswalks.   Traffic stops in the southbound lane.  Luckily, no traffic exists in the northbound lane.

Neighbors, what crime could this be considered?  Is stupidity a misdemeanor?

Peace, Ludlow1

Negligence might be- if there was an accident or serious injury

True and we need to always drive defensively. We also need to get some of these people who do not think first before endangerment to some educational programs before or after these mishaps and with police/court enforcement.

Dear Arthur,

The situation on Newport Avenue and Benefit St. with the woman with two small children crossing against the traffic begged for a police presence.   Maybe the equivalent of a speeding ticket would have assisted the woman's memory.

Peace,

Ludlow1
