Torrey Pines Homeowners Association

Beware of Realtors

Posted in: Torrey Pines
We have realtors that are low balling our homes in Torrey Pines. They are suggesting home prices to sellers that are substantially lower than other surrounding neighborhoods.

Back in 1999, we hired a Remax Advantage Realtor to sell our home. He suggested the price to be even lower than the $135,000.00 price I placed on it. I had a buyer for this price.

After becoming dissatisfied with his services, I had an appraisal done on my own. The appraisal came in at $143,000.00.

For this transaction, I would be out around $8,000.00 on the sale of my home. His commission was 6%.
This would be $480.00. He has to split this with the other realtor for the buyer. So he would only end up with $240.00.

The bottom line is that he sells the house faster with a lower price. Getting me close to my appraisal price of $143,00.000 would only get him $240.00 more. This is pocket change for him and not worth his effort.

I cancelled the sale on my home. This was a nightmare. Then, this Remax Advantage Realtor tried to sue me for his commission. I counter sued him. He finally dropped his suit.

I also filed a complaint against him with the Houston Association of Realtors. I was told by my attorney that this association which is made up of realtors looks out for their own. I dropped the complaint against him. Even if I would have won, this realtor could still practice.
