I just noticed that all of my metal framed windows are condensing moisture from the inside, and leaving puddles on my window sills. I found that the frames and cross members are covered with condensation today.

This only happens when it's really cold, like today. Another trick is to keep a fan running nearby. Running a humidifier will make this much worse, of course.

It's no big deal to go mop it up with a tissue or a towel, but you probably don't want to let that water pool up for very long. At the least you'll end up with a small stain, but if left alone, it could cause the paint to peel up. I thought that the air was dry enough in the house to prevent this, but every window I checked had puddle in the window sill. I have also had a little rain get through the outside doors (on most houses, a screen door or storm door would have kept it out). Without the protection of outer doors, the wind has managed to blow rain under two of my outside doors.

Do you know what the humidity level is in your house? I have a monitor inside and it says 32%, which is low. I have not seen much condensation.

One good thing about the houses here in Park West (phase II) is that all the bathrooms and the laundry rooms are vented to the outside. Just try to remember to keep them running even when you are washing clothes.

I am looking at a timer switch for all the fans in the house. I saw one that replaces the wall switch and it has buttons for 10-20-30-60 minutes. They are expesive, though... $23-$28. I find myself leaving the fans on too long.
