Just have a question about the neighborhood trees.  Who do we call to get them trimmed?  I will be glad to draft up a letter to the city or the township or even Obama if I need to LOL.  I cant even walk around the hood without hitting my head on about 30 branches.  Please let me know asap, my head will thank you. Sealed  If you provide me with a phone number I will be glad to call daily till this problem is solved. Thanks for everything and remember to look on the HIGHLANDS THEATER page for dates and movies coming soon! Hope you don't hit your head on a branch walking to the movie LOL, I'm on fire tonight.

The last time (and only time) that anyone cut them for us was in 2005.  At that time, the Forestry Division was contacted about the trees.  Whether they are still responsible for city trees, I don't know.  Of course, with all the budget cuts and deficits, I'm not sure how much response you'd get from them now.   The simplest thing is for everyone to trim their own trees, which is what we do.  Not a whole lot needs done, just trim off those branches that are too low which go across the sidewalk and/or the street.  Normally, if the branches are too low spreading out onto the street, the mailman will leave a note to trim them because they rake across the top of their delivery vehicle.  Hope this info helps.

Could the association contract to have the trees trimmed?  I agree that it's not enjoyable to walk around our neighborhood.  We keep our trees trimmed and free of the sidewalk, but not all homeowners take the same care.

Contracting to have the trees trimmed would be a very costly venture.   I wouldn't imagine the homeowner fees that we collect would cover it.  So far about 50 homeowners have sent in their payments which leaves quite a few that haven't paid yet.

But, there is good news.  "Movieguy" just called me and said he was able to contact the Forestry Department and they told him they would send a surveyor out in the next few weeks to see what all needed done.  So maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.   I, like you and some others,  keep my trees trimmed so it isn't hazardous to anyone walking.  Too bad everyone doesn't, then there wouldn't be a problem.
