Having recently started doing a lot of walking in our neighborhood, I have discovered the view on foot to be a lot different than driving down the street.  Many sidewalks have grass/weeds growing in the cracks, while trees and shrubbery next to, and overhanging, the sidewalks are in need of trimming.  Let's do our part to keep the sidewalks grass/weed free and trim up overgrown trees and shrubbery.

On another note, I tend to collect a lot of trash on my nightly walks throughout the community; however, trash receptacles are lacking.  Eastern Parkway, especially the corner of Eastern Parkway and Preston (at National City Bank), and our community needs trash cans for our use.  I encourage you to take a plastic grocery bag and retrieve trash from our community streets ... but remember, some trash can be recycled!

Any idea why the 900 block of Reasor is missing sidewalks?

I agree with the problem of overhanging limbs making it difficult to walk some areas of our neighborhood.  I, too, walk the neighborhood very frequently, and find that at times I have to duck and dodge around weeds and trees that have overgrown the walking area of the sidewalk.  Each of us needs to take just a little extra time to maintain some weed control on our property and also in areas that border both sidewalks and easements.Cool

I agree with your article and I hope that more people will clean up area's around their homes and sidewalks. You have a great idea using a plastic bag while you walk to pick up litter.  As for the side walks in 900 blk of Reaasor, they have not been requested since becoming president of SACC.

Is it now considered curb appeal to have weeds growing in the crack between the streets and curb/sidewalks?  It's almost like being in a jungle without leaving the country!!!  Let's take pride in our property ... and yes, that includes removing the grass and weeds from the cracks in the sidewalk.
