After the attempted burglary December 2008 while at home, I won't be opening the door for anyone selling anything!! I will tell them through the door that I'm not interested, PERIOD!!  Unfortuantely it's come down to this! The kid that tried to break into my home was selling newspapers just a few weeks before.

We don't answer the door either.  If they catch us outside or with our glass door open, then we ask for their selling permit and their photo ID which is required to solicit door to door.  When they do not have it, we ask that they leave the neighborhood before the cops arrive to ticket them for soliciting door to door without a proper permit.  A white van usually shows up to pick them up.  Hmmmm

Interesting.....good advice!

Sorry, the kid was selling "magazines" not newspapers as my previous post suggests.  Also, I wanted to add that I DID have an ADT sign and stickers on my windows, but did not have the service when the burglary occurred.  I have just recently signed up for a security service.

This lady stopped by my place and suckered me into buying a magazine subscription.  She is for real.  She's not a scammer or burglar.   I bought from her company before a couple years ago, and I called to make sure she was a valid employee and she is.

As for the "second chance foundation" story....I'm pretty sure she just made it up to have a story to sell.  She was nice though.  Young black lady, last name was Thorpe if I remember correctly
