Your child should be able to stay after school (I think its tuesdays and thursdays, not sure) and Mr. Herrera will tutor/help him to understand the work better.  I remember my daughter doing that a couple years ago when she was having trouble with her pre-ap algebra.  Just ask Mr. Herrera when his tutoring times are and your child can stay after school those days, usually until about 3:45 for the help they need.  If you talk to the school, they will do what they can to get your child the help they need.
