Last year, the homeowners of Northwood Hills paid approximately $230,000.00 in property taxes. Almost a quarter of a million dollars was collected by your local/city/state (annually, every year). Sure, I agree, if I don't pay my property tax, the city/state can put a lien/foreclose on my property, and I have no problem with that. The question is, do I want an unregulated third layer private government to have that authority? My answer is NO. I believe in the ''traditional'' neighborhood and Northwood Hills, based on it's location and layout, has the potential to be a traditional neighborhood. *****Just think of all the potential home-buyers out there that will be knocking on your door when you go to sell your Northwood Hills home******* ,,,,,,,,,*******''We have been looking all over for a house WITHOUT a homeowners association and we found yours,,,,How much do you want!''******
Mississippi has a Non-disclosure law. When you purchased your home here, the builder or realtor was not required to tell you about the Homeowners Association that was written into the plat-book. So, with that said, how can the BOD be surprised about the homeowners of Northwood Hills being angry about this situation? The city ordinances ''rules'' are not that far off from the HWHPOA's rules. I say put the $230,000.00 to work and go to city hall with your problems, and not a big-business ''middle-man'' like a property owners association. Some big and fancy neighborhoods may need an ''POA'' or ''HOA'', BUT, Northwood Hills does not. Let's keep this can of worms sealed closed and keep the association BOD dormant, if not written off the plat-book. http://www.dissolvenorthwoodhillspoa.smfforfree4.com

I'd like to see you get the city to agree to clean up the common areas. The city will not take over these areas, and it is not up to the homeowners to take care of them either. If you can come up with a solution for that, then I might listen to you.

Common area maintenance

First off, the common areas of Northwood Hills are not immediately visible to people. There are a couple of easements for utilities separate the old section from the new section, which require very little, if any maintenance. The two ''Northwood Hills'' planters in the entrance can be taken care of by the front two homeowners that have them in their yard (nothing that 10 minutes and a weed eater can take care of, easy). The wooded area behind the houses where the ''entrance'' to the ''park'' is, can take care of itself, just as it has for the past 10 years. My whole point is that Northwood Hills does not have ''enough'' legitimate common area to justify the existence of a POA. You do not have to jump on the ''Homeowners Association'' bandwagon if you do not really need to. If you see a piece of trash lying in that 10 foot wide thin strip of common area, be a good homeowner and pick it up.

Maintenance needed

Obviously you have not paid much attention to the common areas. During the spring and summer months they become very overgrown. We have things growing over and through our fences. Also, take a look around at all the dead trees that are in these areas. Some of these trees are in danger of damaging houses and property. I do not feel that it is my resposibility to pay to have them cut down. The city sure isn't going to help out on this matter. I've already tried. When your house backs up to these areas and all the houses on your street have fenced in yards, it makes it very difficult to keep the area cleaned up. Once again, it is not my responsibility to do it. If they would let me extend my fence all the way back, then we'd have a different story. As far as the entrance is concerned, it needs a facelift. The homeowners have put some effort into it, but it could still use some work. Why sould it have to come out of their time and their money. It needs more than 10 minutes of weed pulling.
