Turtle Cove should consider installing a bike or walking path along Jackson Lake Road to join our streets from Eagle to Whippoorwhill and into the green spaces. There is no way for us to walk or ride safely from Eagle or Whippoorwill to the Club House or basketball courts without going onto the main road or cutting into others back yards and property. I've notice an ATV type dirt path and think it could be paved (or groomed) in order to provide families, walkers and bikers a safer way to enjoy the entire community. Also, it could result in the club house and pool getting more business because the kids would be able to travel independently and safely to those areas. |

Currently Turtle Cove has two trails (that I am aware of) which are accessible at the end of West Mourning Dove Court & empty out at hole 7 of the golf course or a side road off of Turtle Cove Trailway near Whippoorwill depending on your path where it splits. The scenery is beautiful. An old bench near a small waterfall, the back end of a cove adjacent to Flamingo & Nuthatch, small streams with crawfish, frogs, etc... Some years ago it was in pristine condition. Now it is becoming choked with weeds and ivy, the bench has rotted...time and nature have taken its toll. Turtle Cove needs trails. Too many people run along the ever dangerous Whippoorwill never knowing the excitement and beauty they're missing. With the trail emptying at the end of Flamingo/the Clubhouse is a perfect way to bolster revenue. I would stop in for a quick drink or snack before heading back, no doubt. I miss the Turtle Cove from my adolescence. With the rising crime rate, (burglaries, vandalism, etc) a lack of security at the beaches (non-members unchecked) and an abyssmal clubhouse catering only to the geriatric (water payments seem difficult to manage there also), TC needs a total overhaul to its image and services. |
