Turtle Cove

Day cares

Posted in: Turtle Cove

My wife and I are currently considering turtle cove for our next home and have some questions that I hope someone can help us with.

Day cares.....are there any close by?

Docks, some homes have them some dont, is it something you can get approval from georgia power to build?

Internet/cable, what is available, what is the highest speed internet available?

If we decided to build an addion to the house, does it have to be cleared through the HOA?

Hello, I have lived in Turtle Cove for 9 years. We like the comunity but I can tell you that Turtle Cove does not pay for your water...you pay it thru your taxes to Jasper County the charges are $154 a year and it will be on your tax bill when you get it. We have Dish and Direct TV out here but no cable services. I have AT&T DSL in my home and we have the 6.0..you need at least that high out here to be able to maintain any kind of speed in pulling anything up. It goes out when we get storms usually but we haven't gone more than a day without service.

Sadly those of us who have been here for a time are experiencing low appraisals on our homes. We tried to refinance our house that we paid $86,900 for in Feb 2002 and it only appraised at $53,000...I doubt the prices will ever come back in my lifetime to even be able to break even on our loan. We are not one of the people who lets their house go..my husband is fanatical about the looks of our house and it is well maintained so that is not the problem. It is because there are 15 houses right around us that have been foreclosed on.

It gets old that we pay $300 a year and then have to pay to swim or go to the beach. It used to be free to go to the beach anytime but then someone had the wonderful idea to open up the amenites to anyone who can read a newspaper and had $285.. These people come to party on the weekends and holidays at our beaches..they overtake the beaches. That is why the beaches look like they do. These out of towners do not care what they leave behind for someone else to clean up.

Everything needs to be cleared with the HOA..fences, pools, additions..anything that you do. We have fenced in our yard and added a nice outbuilding for my husband's lawn stuff and have cleared both with the office. They really don't care what you do..they just appreiciate being told. I just wish there was a committee to force homeowners to clean up their places. Some of the houses I see the people who live there should be ashamed. There is NO excuse for being dirty. My husband tries to keep Meadowlark clean but people don't care..they just throw their fast food crap out the car windows. How can you do that in your own neighborhood?
