Arapahoe County

Littleton, CO ---
Want to know which parks, trails and
open spaces have benefited from the Arapahoe County Open Space tax? It’s easy to
do thanks to the new online Protect. Connect. Enjoy.
Map
.

Residents
can learn about the new and improved
parks, trails and open spaces in their neighborhood and across the County with
this new online mapping program. Citizens can enter their home address, use
click and zoom or select a park near them to find projects in their area. Pop up
tables provide specific project details and links to the leading jurisdiction or
recreation district for more
information.

“Many of these projects wouldn't be
possible without the support of the Arapahoe County Open Space sales tax, which
was generously approved by voters in 2003,” said Arapahoe County Commissioner
Chair Rod Bockenfeld.

For every $100 spent in the County,
a quarter is collected for the preservation of open space and outdoor
recreation. In seven years, the County
has protected more than 20,000 acres of land that preserve natural habitats and
wildlife corridors, protect sweeping vistas and provide outdoor recreation for
residents of all ages.

To access the Protect. Connect. Enjoy. Map, visit the
Open Space page on the County’s web site at
www.co.arapahoe.co.us. While there,
residents can sign up for the Arapahoe County open space e-newsletter to receive
updates on the program’s accomplishments, upcoming events, etc.
