University Community Association

Area Commission and City Meeting

Nov 01, 2001

The University Area Commission and the City of Columbus, will hold an informational meeting regarding a proposal to expand the jurisdiction of the University Area Review Board. The meeting will be Monday, Oct. 29, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in room 100 of the Northwood-High Building, 2231 N. High St.
The meeting also will include a presentation on a draft of University/High Street Development & Design Guidelines. The guidelines were initially prepared by an urban design consultant hired by Campus Partners in 1997 and 1998. The guidelines have been revised by the University Area Commission and the city?’s Planning Division. The guidelines are a companion to the report, "A Plan for High Street: Creating a 21st Century Main Street," which was published by Campus Partners last year at the conclusion of a community-based planning process.
This initial meeting allows affected property owners to comment on the design review process and the guideline document. Additional public hearings on the proposed legislation will occur before the Development Commission and City Council. The proposed expansion affects properties on High Street, between Fifth and Arcadia Avenues, and all non-residential properties within the current Impact District boundaries.
For further information, please contact Ken Klare of the city Planning Division at 645-8654. Or visit the city?’s website at www.columbusinfobase.org.
