ACHIEVEMENTS IN 1999
EXPAND ZONING AND SANITATION ENFORCEMENT:
MHCA has been vigilant and persistent in identifying and correcting zoning and sanitation codes violations. As a result, our community is less congested and cleaner.
CURB BLIGHT:
MHCA has identified trouble spots in the community and contained them. Crime is down and vandalism has deceased.
CREATE A REGIONAL PRESENCE:
MHCA'S Community Meeting House at 418 Mosher Street is open for regular community meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 6pm. All are welcome.
MOTIVATE COMMUNITY ACTION:
MCHA has organized successful protests toblock unwanted projects in our community; on the other hand, we have supported positive projects such as the Druid YMCA, Payne Memorial AME Church, Druid Heights Transitional Housing and the Pennsylvania Avenue Task Force.
OBJECTIVES FOR THE YEAR 2000
EXPAND ZONING AND SANITATION ENFORCEMENT:
MCHA will step up zoning and sanitation enforcement which will include confiscating vacant houses; thereby, turning them over to private parties for development. The eyesores and stigma attached to vacant buildings will be eradicated.
CURB BLIGHT:
MHCA will allow no new zoning changes in certain strategic development areas of our historic district. Properties which were granfathered in, before historic preservation status was granted, will be scrutinized for code violations. Our community will obtain a higher standard of historic preservation.
MOTIVATE COMMUNITY ACTION:
MHCA will use its new Website to get the Marble Hill's success story out to the entire world: http://neighborhoodlink.com/baltimore/marble
We can do all this and more in 2000, with your support of a $10.00 membership fee and just $5.00 a month dues along with active participation. Call Winfield - 410-728-2085.
